Eenmaal per twee jaar reikt de Dalewijk Foundation een prijs uit aan een persoon, initiatief of publicatie die een uitzonderlijke en inspirerende bijdrage heeft geleverd aan de toepassing van psychoanalytisch denken buiten de klinische behandelpraktijk.
Met deze prijs benadrukt de Foundation het belang van psychoanalytische inzichten om complexe menselijke en maatschappelijke vraagstukken te begrijpen — juist in een tijd waarin simplificatie, polarisatie en snelle oplossingen vaak de overhand hebben.
Once every two years, the Dalewijk Foundation awards a prize to a person, initiative or publication that has made an exceptional and inspiring contribution to the application of psychoanalytic thinking outside clinical practice.
With this award, the Foundation emphasises the importance of psychoanalytic insights for understanding complex human and societal questions — particularly in an era where simplification, polarisation and quick fixes often prevail.
Kandidaten worden voorgedragen door de prijzencommissie van de International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA). De prijs wordt uitgereikt tijdens de business-meeting van het tweejaarlijkse IPA-congres, en is verbonden met publieke erkenning binnen de IPA.
Candidates are nominated by the prize committee of the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA). The award is presented during the business meeting of the biennial IPA congress, and carries public recognition within the IPA.

De Foundation is geïnitieerd door psychiater en psychoanalyticus Henk Jan Dalewijk, die gedurende zijn bestuurlijke loopbaan heeft ervaren dat psychoanalytisch denken niet alleen van nut kan zijn bij individuele problemen maar ook bij het begrijpen van groepsprocessen en maatschappelijke vraagstukken.
Vanuit die ervaring heeft hij zich ingezet voor het verbinden van psychoanalyse met vraagstukken rond leiderschap en organisaties. De Dalewijk Foundation is een onafhankelijke organisatie die zich richt op het bevorderen van kennis over psychoanalyse en de toepassing daarvan op maatschappelijke vraagstukken.
The foundation was initiated by psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Henk Jan Dalewijk, who throughout his executive career experienced that psychoanalytic thinking can be useful not only for individual problems but also for understanding group processes and societal questions.
Building on that experience, he has dedicated himself to connecting psychoanalysis with questions of leadership and organisations. The Dalewijk Foundation is an independent foundation focused on advancing knowledge of psychoanalysis and its application to societal questions.

The Foundation pursues its aim by financially supporting projects and initiatives, stimulating knowledge development and dissemination, and fostering reflection on societal questions. Het bestuur bestaat uit vijf leden. Bestuursleden ontvangen geen beloning voor hun werkzaamheden; uitsluitend redelijk gemaakte onkosten worden vergoed. Dit beleid sluit aan bij de voorwaarden voor ANBI-instellingen.
The board consists of five members. Board members receive no remuneration for their work; only reasonable expenses are reimbursed. This policy is in line with the requirements for ANBI institutions.
De Foundation heeft een aanvangsvermogen met de bedoeling dit te laten groeien, zodat de activiteiten gefinancierd kunnen worden uit het rendement. In lijn met de ANBI-eisen wordt niet meer vermogen aangehouden dan redelijkerwijs nodig is voor de continuïteit. Uitgangspunten zijn zorgvuldig financieel beheer, transparantie en geen risicovolle beleggingen.
The Foundation has starting capital and aims to grow it, so that activities can be financed from the returns. In line with ANBI requirements, no more capital is held than reasonably needed for continuity. Principles are careful financial management, transparency and no risky investments.
De Foundation werft inkomsten via nalatenschappen en legaten, donaties van particulieren, bijdragen van fondsen en eventuele bijdragen van deelnemers aan activiteiten. Alle inkomsten worden uitsluitend besteed aan de doelstellingen van de Foundation.
